Investigations of environmental regeneration at the Penrith Lakes Scheme, Sydney, Australia

Abstract: Investigations on biomass and tree growth undertaken at the Penrith Lakes Scheme, an area of 1935 ha, high differences in total biomass stored per hectare due to varying stand ages, historic land use patterns and applied management strategies. Measurements of 490 trees were taken on this major rehabilitation project in western Sydney. Above and below ground biomass was estiamted using allometric equations and market values of stored CO2 have been estimated.
