Für die Erstellung dieser Diplomarbeit fanden umfangreiche wissenschaftliche Erhebungen
bezüglich der Biomasse und des Pflanzenwachstum auf dem Gebiet des Penrith Lakes Scheme
statt. Das Gebiet umfasst eine Gesamtfläche von 1935 ha. Hohe Unterschiede in den
Biomasseergebnissen resultieren aus Unterschieden in Alter, Landnutzungsgeschichte
und Pflegemaßnahmen. Weiterhin wurden mögliche zukünftige Einnahmequellen aus dem
Verkauf von CO2-Zertifikaten als unterstüzende Finanzierungsmöglichkeit untersucht.

Investigations on biomass and tree growth undertaken at the Penrith Lakes Scheme,
an area of 1935 ha, high differences in total biomass stored per hectare due to varying
stand ages, historic land use patterns and applied management
strategies. Measurements of 490 trees were taken on this major rehabilitation project
in western Sydney. Above and below ground biomass was estiamted using allometric equations
and market values of stored CO2 have been estimated.
